Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- definitely made a lot of fighting game fans drool, particularly fighting game fans who love anime-style visuals. Using the Unreal 3 engine, the upcoming 2.5D fighter looks absolutely stunning, with actual in-game footage looking like pre-rendered cel-shaded animation. Of course, it also helps that the Guilty Gear series is one of the deepest 2D fighting games around, with a wide range of characters offering support for a wide variety of playstyles.
The most recent announcement is positive news for people who are fans of unorthodox playstyles, as Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- has just added series veteran Faust to its roster. For those who are not familiar, Faust is a mad doctor that uses giant scalpel as his weapon. There are two things notable about Faust’s physical appearance – first is that he’s very tall – to the point where even when crouching (his default pose), he’s still as tall as the average character. And there’s also the matter of his face, which you never see because he wears a paper bag over his head.
The announcement is not just about Faust, though. It also states that the story will pick up where the Xbox 360-exclusive action-strategy game Guilty Gear 2: Overture left off.
