According to an announcement by Bandai, 71 year old anime director (and creator of the iconic Gundam franchise) Yoshiyuki Tomino will be releasing his newest anime work as part of the 35th anniversary of the Gundam franchise. While Bandai didn’t specifically refer to it as a Gundam series, the fact that it’s going to be part of Gundam’s 35th anniversary could mean that it’s at least related to the franchise.

The title of the new series will be announced at a much later date, and is planned to be released sometime between 2014 and 2015. Tomino’s last Gundam-related work was the Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam: A New Translation movie trilogy, which was released last 2005 to 2006.
