Gundam Seed Relaunched in HD for 10th Anniversary
As preparation for Gundam Seed’s 10th anniversary, Sunrise has opened a new website that promotes the mecha war epic’s new HD remastered release. Gundam Seed is first scheduled to return to Japanese TV on New Years, followed by a release of the first Blu-Ray box set in March.
Gundam Seed is one of the more popular titles in the Gundam franchise, and has been favored by a large number of fans even though it does not follow the series continuity, with the entire story occuring in an alternate universe. It has garnered praise for its sleek and sharp-looking mecha designs, which is only accentuated by the more advanced animation techniques that were already available when it was made.
The Blu-Ray box set contains 11 episodes and will enter the Japanese market on March 23rd, 2012 in two different iterations; a standard one that sells for 18,900 yen and a limited edition that sells for 21,000 yen. Both versions will include special features such as audio commentary on the first episode of each disc, and clean versions of the opening and ending. The limited edition will include a special booklet and a nifty cover jacket.
Amazon Japan has listed the next two box sets for June and September.
