Hasbro gears up for Blazing Team
Producing a foreign brand for western consumption can be hard, so Hasbro has taken a unique route to exporting China’s #1 yo-yo line Blazing Teens. Rather than adapting one of the franchise’s various animated series, or pulling a Power Rangers with its live action incarnations, the toy giant has decided to forge ahead with a new cartoon.
Created in association with franchise originator Guangdong Alpha Animation, Blazing Team tells the tale of a group of normal teens that discover they’re not so normal thanks to Master Lao Shi. Through his help, the group must battle the growing evil within their city and become Yo Kwon Do master. The series blends martial arts and the skills of yo-yoing for comedic action adventure. Blazing Team is currently scheduled to run for 52 episodes.
The show will premiere on Friday, November 13 at 6:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Discovery Family Channel (formerly The Hub) in the US before international expansion in 2016. Hasbro will naturally produce a line of yo-yos based on the series starting in March.
