Helena Bonham Carter to Join Cast of Cinderella
Disney’s upcoming live-action version of Cinderella has just landed another big name star, with The Hollywood Reporter revealing that Helena Bonham Carter thas just sined for the role of the fairy godmother.
The live action Cinderella is being directed by Kenneth Branagh, and sees Lily James in the title role opposite the wicked stepmother played by Cate Blanchett. The role of the prince is played by Game of Thrones’ Richard Madden. The cast list is rounded by Sophie McShera (Downton Abbey) and Holliday Granger (The Borgias), who are both playing the stepsisters.
It is said that the new movie will give a much larger screentime to the fairy godmother, especially when compared to the classic animated movie. The fairy godmother’s extended role will feature parts disguised as an old beggar who watches over Cinderella, before revealing who she really is.
