Hiro Mashima Looks Back at 2013 and Welcomes the New Year of 2014
by Lindo Korchi
The year of 2013 has been a roller coaster ride for both Fairy Tail fans and the mangaka himself, Hiro Mashima.
During the beginning of 2013, Fairy Tail was in the middle of season four, known as the Grand Magic Games arc, a grand tournament of Fairy Tail‘s most recognized characters, along with new foes, battling it out. It’s like the characters of Naruto entering the Martial Arts Tournament of Dragon Ball — thrilling. Unfortunately, Fairy Tail was then cancelled (March) in the middle of the GMG arc, upsetting many fans.
Hiro Mashima comforted his fans by promising the anime to return. While the series was on hiatus, Mashima focused on the manga and passed the 40 volume milestone, and now has his 41th volume as of December, which is set to release on August 12th. Recently, Mashima was able to end the 2013 year by delivering goods news when he announced that the Fairy Tail anime would return in April 2014.
Mashima tweeted a sketch to thank his fans for their support over the past year. In addition, he welcomed the new year with a special sketch of Happy from the series.
