Hunter x Hunter TV Anime Coming Soon to Toonami

According to the Adult Swim website, the Hunter x Hunter TV anime will be on Toonami programming block starting April 16. The English dub of the anime will be produced by Bang Zoom! Entertainment. Manga distributor Viz Media announced the dub cast for the 2011 to 2014 series, consisting of Cristina Vee (Killua Zoldyck), Erica Mendez (Gon Freecss), Keith Silverstein (Hisoka), Matthew Mercer (Leorio) and Erika Harlacher (Kurapika).

Viz Media has already acquired the license of the series and the company intends to release it on DVD and Blu-ray Disc. Yoshihiro Togashi’s Hunter x Hunter manga’s 2nd television anime adaptation debuted in Japan in 2011 and streamed for 148 episodes while the final episode debuted in 2014.

The series was streamed by Crunchyroll as it aired in Japan. It retold the tale of Togashi’s original manga from the start. It follows Gon Greecs as he struggles to become a Hunter to locate his father and to discover the reason why his father left him as a baby to be a Hunter.

The series was launched in 1998 in Weekly Shonen Jump and Viz Media published the 32nd volume in English in April 2014. Yoshihiro Togashi will resume Hunter x Hunter manga together with the Ankoku Tairiku arc. It has been in hiatus since August 2014. The digital edition of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine will publish the comeback of the series, Viz Media confirmed in March.
