Inside Out’s Meg LeFauve Will Be Director for Disney’s Gigantic
The multi award-winning writer of Inside Out, Meg LeFauve, will make her directorial debut via Gigantic, a Disney Animation’s Jack and the Beanstalk update. LeFauve will be joining Nathan Greno at the helm. Gigantic is planned for release in 2018.
LeFauve, who also created The Good Dinosaur and the upcoming Captain Marvel will be the first female director on a Disney animated feature since Frozen in 2013, which was co-directed by Jennifer Lee with Chris Buck.
The animated film was officially announced in 2015 at D23. According to Tangled co-director Greno, they are hoping that Gigantic will be the perfect version of Jack and the Beanstalk, with a combination of deep emotion and comedy. It was also announced that the songs for the project will be written by Oscar winning musical duo Robert Lopez and Kirsten Anderson-Lopez, who were responsible for the hit songs of Frozen.
Gigantic is set in Spain during the Age of Exploration (1400s-1700s CE). It will focus on Jack, a young boy who discovers a mysterious realm of Giants in the clouds and befriends a Giantess.
