KidsClick brings Halloween-themed programming for October

It’s a new, spooky month and Sinclair Broadcast Group’s KidsClick is ready to celebrate. This October, the daily linear and video-on-demand block brings the return of Mecard, alongside new Halloween specials.

First off, after a brief hiatus, Mecard returns to the lineup on Sunday, October 7th at 7:30 AM. Since it is October, KidsClick will be airing episode 7, “Haunted House Hunting” throughout the month. The show’s regular run will resume with new episodes every Sunday in November.

The rest of the block remains unchanged from September for most of the month. One thing to note, though, is that new episodes of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir will go on hiatus after the second season’s 13th episode airs on October 11th. Reruns will continue to air on the Weekday 7:30 AM slot.

KidsClick ramps up the Halloween celebrations with a six-day themed event, featuring festive episodes and TV specials, kicking off the Friday before the big day:

Here’s a preview of the TV specials:

A Monsterous Holiday

Geeky school kid Andy dreams of being a great inventor, but he’s having trouble coming up with a “big idea” that will win the Science Fair and beat scheming twins April and May.

Even worse his Dad is pressuring him into joining the football team, that he just happens to coach and his big brother just happens to be the star of. Andy decides to ask the town’s resident scientist, Dr. Frankenstein, for advice, but on a visit to his creepy mansion instead he meets a green football-loving teenage monster named Frank, who wishes he could join in the way Andy can.

Excitedly Andy realizes that he and Frank may just be able to solve each other’s troubles by switching places, and his plan goes smoothly until suddenly they’ve got a monster problem on their hands that threatens the entire town.

Produced by Kickstart Productions and Arc Entertainment, this 45-minute special stars Drake Bell, John Heder, Brooke Shields, Kyle Chandler, Sean Astin and Matthew Lilliard. Directed by Gordon Crum and written by Michael Shear and Samantha Shear, it first debuted on Cartoon Network in 2013.

Dear Dracula

Sam is a monster movie buff who lives with his grandmother. He has a best friend in the girl next door, but he’s always felt like an outsider. One day, when Sam asks his grandmother for a Dracula figurine, she suggests that he write to Santa to ask for one as a Christmas gift. Sam, however, has a better idea – since Halloween is around the corner, he’s going to write to Dracula instead!

Dracula is overjoyed to receive Sam’s letter– in the era of Twilight, old vampires like him aren’t so hot anymore. Eager to meet his fan, Dracula gives Sam the surprise of a lifetime by showing up at his house.

However, Sam quickly learns that Dracula isn’t what he used to be – he’s lost his confidence, and he can’t even scare people anymore! Chaos ensues as Sam makes it his mission to help Dracula regain his mojo and learn to scare again…

Produced by Kickstart Productions and Arc Entertainment, this 45-minute special stars Ray Liotta, Emilio Estevez, Matthew Lillard, Ariel Winter, Marion Ross and Nathan Gamble. Directed by Chad van de Keere and written by Brad Birch, it first debuted on Cartoon Network in 2012. The special is an adaptation of the Image Comics/Shadowline graphic novel of the same name by writer Joshua Williamson and artist Vicente Navarrete.

Under Wraps

Danny and Eleanor are used to accompanying their Archaeologist parents on trips all over the world. While Danny’s stoked for a real Indiana Jones-style adventure, his parents think he’s a little too young to join them and their assistant Peter on their expedition for the Pharaoh’s lost tomb. But when Danny sneaks into the tomb and takes home an eerily glowing talisman as a souvenir he wakes the next morning to find their parents have been turned into mummies!

Now Danny and his older sister Eleanor (who would much rather be texting her friends than hanging out with her annoying brother) must race against time to change their parents back. While the kids race around town, their parents go in and out of consciousness, becoming drooling, brainless mummies at the most inopportune times. Things are further complicated by two eager cops who find Eleanor to be “suspicious”, their parents disgruntled assistant Peter, and not to mention an ancient Pharaoh who’s managed to follow them all the way from Egypt.

Produced by Kickstart Productions and Arc Entertainment, this 45-minute special stars Drake Bell, Brooke Shields and Matthew Lillard. Directed by Gordon Crum and written by Alison Ross from an concept by Melissa Rundle, it first debuted as a direct-to-video title in 2014.

The KidsClick linear block launched July 1, 2017, and is available on linear television through TBD and select Sinclair-owned local channels. KidsClick is also available for free live and on-demand through its website and mobile apps. Sinclair is also going through the process of launching set-top box apps, with one available now for Apple TV with other platforms set to follow.
