The New Stuff

KidsClick picks up Mecard, The Legendaries

Oggy and the Cockroaches isn’t the only new show headed to the KidsClick morning block this month. In a last minute addition, Sinclair Broadcast Group has added two new shows, Mecard and The Legendaries, to its schedule.

Turning Mecard enables kids to discover a new world through magical transformation, building friendship and fighting for good. Jason, our protagonist, is an energetic grade schooler who loves the mystical minicars he hears so much about. One day, he meets Evan, a real living minicar that transforms into a creature called Mecardimal. Mecardimals are from a different world called Triforce. The Mecardimals have special powers they use to battle each other. Jason and Evan bond and realise they both need one another to find missing family members. Their quest takes them on an amazing adventure where they meet other Mecard Warriors, discover new Mecardimals with incredible powers and learn to defy evil in order to protect the world.

The South Korean mega-hit debuted in 2015 and had its international launch last spring in Australia and Canada. The U.S. version began streaming on YouTube earlier this year. The series is produced by Heewon Entertainment, in association with SonoKong, Choirock Contents Factory and Mattel Creations.

Based on Patrick Sobral’s comic book series of the same name, this French animated show debuted in its home country in April 2017. It had its English language debut in New Zealand on TVNZ on March 31st of this year. The series is produced by Technicolor Animation Productions.
