The Last Kids on Earth Enters the Production Phase
Atomic Cartoons has started production of “The Last Kids on Earth.” This is an animated adaptation of Max Brailler’s New York Times best-selling book series. The Last Kids on Earth is an adventure-comedy cartoon, scheduled for a 2019 worldwide release via Netflix streaming.
The story of The Last Kids on Earth revolves around a 13-year old boy named Jack Sullivan. Jack gets help from a group of suburban middle schoolers. The group spends their daily lives hanging out in a treehouse and doing all sorts of middle-school activities, such as playing video games and eating tons of sweets. They also battle zombies on the side, because the story is set in the aftermath of a monster apocalypse.
Brailler himself will serve as an executive producer and writer for the series. Emmy-nominated writer Scott Peterson will help Brailler while also serving as showrunner. Jennifer McCarron and Matthew Berkowitz will be executive producers under Atomic Cartoons.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be teaming with Atomic Cartoons. It is a delight to bring The Last Kids on Earth to life as an animated series. We are all fortunate to have such an incredible partner in Netflix,” said Brallier.
