Lupin the Third Returns to the Big Screen for 50th Anniversary

As part of the celebrations for the 50th Anniversary of Lupin the Third: Castle of Cagliostro, Fathom Events will be hosting a two night event that will see the 1979 classic animated film return to the big screens, with a schedule set for Thursday, September 14 for the English dubbed version and Tuesday, September 19 for the English subtitled version. Both screenings will start at 7:00 PM local time.

Tickets for the Lupin the Third: Castle of Cagliostro screening can be purchased online starting on August 18 at FathomEvents.com, or at the participating theater boxes. The list of theater locations will be made available on August 18 on the Fathom Events website.

For the uninitiated, Lupin the Third: Castle of Cagliostro follows the legendary thief Arsene Lupin III, who robs a casino only to discover that the money he ran away with is counterfeit. He tracks the fake bills back to the tiny country of Cagliostro, and gets into trouble with Count Cagliostro and his men while trying to save the runaway Clarisse. Together with the help of his friends Jigen and Goemon, as well as an unlikely aid from his nemesis Inspector Zenigata, Lupin goes on a quest to escape the castle while foiling the Count’s operations and saving Clarisse along the way.

“Anime events continually prove to be a wildly popular genre for our audiences,” Fathom Events CEO John Rubey said. “We are thrilled to debut Hayao Miyazaki’s first masterpiece on big screens nationwide and to partner with ELEVEN ARTS and TMS Entertainment to make this possible.”
