Smith Micro Software, Inc (NASDAQ: SMSI) Productivity and Graphics group has just announced the release of Manga Studio 5, the most efficient and advanced solution for drawing, laying out, illustrating and publishing manga comics. In support of the launch, a limited edition Axe Cop image from its creator and Manga Studio user Ethan Nicolle. Smith Micro is also holding an online contest for the chance to win a signed copy of the Axe Cop print, as well as a Wacom Cintiq tablet.

Manga Studio 5’s improvements this time around include an all-new, more intuitive UI as well as an improved graphic engine, so that users can draw and paint with a more natural feel. Manga Studio 5 also adds proper support for 64-bit architecture and multi-core CPU support, so that you can handle HD and multi-layer artwork while taking advantage of all the horsepower your PC has to offer. The application allows you to scan in existing artwork or draw everything from scratch using a mouse or the more natural feel of drawing on a tablet.
