Maya The Bee Movie Takes Flight
Flying Bark Productions has recently announced that they are working on a new CG animated feature based on the Maya the Bee property. The movie will be 3D stereoscopic, with Studio 100 providing a combination of CG environments with natural landscapes. The movie will follow the titular bee as she tries to escape the hive life that she deems mundane, yearning instead for the freedom to explore the world at her own will.
“Maya the Bee has become a much-loved and revered character throughout Europe, the U.S. and Asia, entertaining television audiences with her joyful spirit for over 35 years, so we are thrilled to be going into production on Maya’s highly anticipated film debut,” said Flying Bark Productions’ managing director, Jim Ballantine.
The original Maya the Bee TV series was first produced in the 70s based on the German book written by Waldemar Bonsels. Today’s generation can enjoy the tales with a 3D HD TV series co-produced by Studio 100 and broadcast in several European territories.
