Anime and manga distributor VIZ Media has recently announced plans to launch their own 24-hour anime channel, Neon Alley. The channel will carry the world’s most popular titles and is scheduled to debut on game consoles this fall. Currently, VIZ is planning to make the channel available only to US and Canadian users.
Neon Alley will be building a library that presents a healthy mix of action, adventure, supernatural, sci fi, fantasy, and horror anime shows. The shows will be shown in uncut format and dubbed in English. Titles that have HD streams available will be streamed in all its HD glory. As expected, blockbuster VIZ licensed titles such as Naruto Shippuden, Inuyasha: The Final Act, and Death Note will be part of the first batch of shows to air. There are also plans for newer titles such as Tiger & Bunny, Berserk: The Golden Age Arc, Zetman, and Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan. Neon Alley will also be hosting original content that provides news and behind the scenes featurettes.
“We created Neon Alley for fans to watch the best anime titles in the world right on their TV,” said Ken Sasaki, President and Chief Executive Officer for VIZ Media. “Neon Alley will have weekly exclusive premieres of the hit titles they love, along with a mix of new, cutting-edge titles they didn’t know they were missing.”
Neon Alley will be subscription based, but will also be subsidized by limited commercial advertising in order to keep the launch price competitive at $6.99 per month. For more info, you can visit the official page at www.neonalley.com.
