Some of the minds behind 4Kids Entertainment are mounting a comeback.
CraneKahn are preparing to launch Kung Fu Pork Choppers, a new CG-animated action comedy series adapted from the wildly successful Chinese G.G. Bond franchise. Produced by Winsing Company, the first season of the reversioned show will consist of 26 twenty-two minute episodes aimed at kids aged 4-8.
The company previously streamed the show’s theme song, featuring narration from none other than Veronica Taylor – the original voice actress behind Ash in Pokemon, 4Kids’ largest hit. CraneKahn has now released a new trailer introducing audiences to characters like the Glorious P.I.G. Hamgelina, Pigcasso, Snottingham, Albert Swinestein and of course, Hampton as they try to save the day in New Pork City and beyond.
No broadcast/streaming partners for the show have officially been revealed yet. That said, there are murmurs about the series potentially finding a home on a certain network devoted to cartoons. Current Pokemon toy licensee Wicked Cool Toys has agreed to produce merchandise based on Kung Fu Pork Choppers.
GG Bond debuted in 2005 and is seen on more than 150 TV channels and 8 major VOD platforms around China; over 160 million children watch it on CCTV and other major TV channels every year. Ratings show it is consistently in the top 3 animated series for its age group on CCTV, with the total digital/online views exceeding 20 billion.
