Have a Merry Arthur Chirstmas in theaters
Santa Claus isn’t just a legend, he’s also a man – a family man. Most of us have, by now, heard of his wife, Mrs. Claus. However, lesser known in the stories are the extended family beyond the married couple: their two sons Arthur and Steve, as well as the elder of the household, Arthur and Steve’s grandfather, Grandsanta. After 70 years of delivering Christmas gifts, Santa is getting up there in age. When one present is left undelivered, Santa and Steve, in line to be the next Claus, figure a 99.99999% delivery run was good enough for them. But not Arthur, who remains determined that all good little girls and boys get their Christmas present.
But Arthur’s not alone on his quest – Grandsanta still has a few tricks up his sleeve, including access to his 150 year old, classic wooden sled named Evie, and the great-grandchildren of the original reindeer. Now, things have changed a bit since Grandsanta’s day, including the original world maps he used. So, of course, there’s a bit of trouble. What’s worse, because he’s not as stealth as he used to be, Grandsanta has many of the world’s armies thinking that he’s an invading alien attack!
The combined effort of Sony Pictures Animation, Aardman Animations, and Columbia Pictures bring this new holiday classic to life, spreading across theaters in the US starting Wednesday, November 23rd. The message of the movie is simple, sweet, and beautiful: that the Spirit of Christmas is not determined by age, by rank, by modern technology or by older gear. The act of giving, and seeing the joy and happiness from those who receive, is all that is ever needed for there to be a Christmas. Whether that’s Father Christmas, Steve Claus, Grand Santa, or Arthur Christmas.
