Italian pet-centric toon Mini Pet Pals is making its way to China via different VOD platforms starting in November, as a result of a deal with Beijing-based JY Animation. The deals apply to the first two seasons – which consist of 104 x 6 min episodes – and will debut with a new China-made Mandarin version on platforms such as Baidu’s iQiyi. The theme song, however, will still be in Italian in order to introduce Chinese children to the language.
For the uninitiated, Mini Pet Pals is a spin-off series from the globally popular Pet Pals franchise, this time focusing on younger versions of the main characters: Pio the frog still has the tail of a tadpole, Top Hat the rabbit still has braces on his teeth, Nameless the chick has just hatched, Diva is a cute and tiny duckling, Holly is a big-eyed kitten and Moby is a puppy smaller than a daisy.
Mini Pet Pals is targeted towards preschool viewers, and will feature episodes that start in a playground setting before ending with an important lesson, via the help of a wise, grown up tree that doles out much-needed advice to characters.
