Minions Movie Delayed

Despicable-Me-Inspires-The-Cutest-Video-Game-Minions

Sad news for fans of Gru’s cute, hilarious, and mischievous minions, because you won’t be able to watch their spin-off movie on December 19, 2014. Thankfully, it’s just a slight delay as the release has been pushed back to July 10, 2015. The change in schedules mean that Universal won’t have an animated feature for 2014, but it also means the Minions movie will be able to open in the same time frame occupied by Despicable Me 2 this year.

The delay is not entirely without precedent, as Pixar has also announced that they are moving their upcoming The Good Dinosaur from summer of 2014 to 2015 a few days before Universal’s announcement. It also marks the first time that Pixar will have no movie in a calendar year since 2005.

There’s no reason to believe that the Minions spin-off movie is in trouble, as Despicable Me 2 remains Universal’s most profitable release to date, grossing over $840 million worldwide.
