Motorcity is Not a Cynical Cartoon, says Series Creator

In case you haven’t been tuning in to Disney XD, they’ve got a new show that’s been garnering a lot of praise since its debut last April. The show is called Motorcity, which is created by industry veteran Chris Prynoski and features an impressive voice cast that includes Mark Hamill (of Batman: The Animated Series and Star Wars fame).

Motorcity focuses on a post-apocalyptic world where a 17 year old rebel named Mike Chilton leads a gang called the Burners, who do everything they can in order to stay behind the wheel in a world where cars and everything fun is banned by Evil villain Abraham Kane, who runs the city called Detroit Delux with an iron fist.

According to Prynoski, Motorcity is fresh, fun, full of life, and positive unlike many of his past works from Adult Swim (such as Metalocalypse):

“It’s not a cynical show,” he said. “I’ve worked on a lot of Adult Swim shows, and the basic humor comes from cynicism. ‘Motorcity’ is not that. It’s sincere. I’m setting out to make a show for kids that will excite them the way cartoons excited me as a kid.”

“Motorcity” airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Disney XD.
