The latest installment in Australian dev N3V Games’ mobile videogame franchise Dead Arrival will feature character animation development based on iPi Soft’s patented motion capture technology. The game itself, titled Dead Arrival 2, is still in closed beta stage but N3V confirms that it will be made available on nVidia’s SHIELD platform in late July.
Dead Arrival 2 is a survival action game set in a post-zombie apocalypse world, with ports designed specifically for Android and iOS mobile platforms. The series was the recipient of a bronze medal from Pocket Gamer and was named as one of the Top 5 horror games on Android.
One of the key strengths of the new game is the animation and the enemy AI, which was created with iPi Motion Capture’s Basic Edition and a dual Microsoft Kinect setup in conjunction with Unity 4.0.
“iPi Motion Capture software enabled us to improve production turnaround by giving us the tools needed to capture high-quality animations in a short amount of time,” Saxon Dixon, N3V Games’ Lead Artist says. “This allowed us to focus on other areas that might have otherwise been overlooked. For a small team, iPi Soft’s motion capture solution has been invaluable.”
