Nelvana announces Beyblade: Shogun Steel, and a second season of Beywheelz: Powered by Beyblade

Canadian animation studio Nelvana Limited have announced that broadcasters around the world can expect a 39 episode new dose of Beyblade animation in 2013. The company has confirmed that they will be continuing their Beyblade spinoff, Beywheelz with an additional 13 episode second season. Nelvana will also be dubbing Japan’s Metal Fight Beyblade: Zero-G for international audiences as Beyblade: Shogun Steel. The company describes the new series as:

THE BATTLING ACTION IS BACK IN… BEYBLADE: Shogun Steel!

It’s time for an ALL-NEW generation to battle it out in the action-packed story of BEYBLADE: Shogun Steel! The WBBA has worked tirelessly over the last 7 years to rebuild the Beyblade world by introducing a new Bey system and train the next generation of Bladers. Our new hero, Zyro Kurogane, aspires to be just like Gingka and become the World’s Best Blader; with the help of his new friends, he trains hard, gains strength, and learns groundbreaking new battle techniques along the way. Unknowingly, there are mysterious and sinister powers at work with plots to take over the WBBA! Friends will battle each other and dark forces come out of the shadows in an unprecedented event where strategic new combinations create EVEN MORE powerful NEW Beys!

The new 26 episode series is expected to air on broadcasters around the globe, such as Canada’s YTV, Cartoon Network in the US, and more. The series premiered this past April in Japan on TV Tokyo.
