Neon Alley to Broadcast English Dub of Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic

At the recent Anime Expo, Aniplex of America has announced that VIZ Media’s Neon Alley will be running the Arabian Nights-inspired fantasy anime Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic in English dubbed format.

Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic is written and illustrated by Shinobu Ohtaka, and was serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday in June of 2009. It focuses on an fictionalized version of the ancient Old World, where all living beings possess an essence known as Rukh, which is returned to the huge flow of Rukh upon death, whereupon it is used to bring life to new living beings in an eternal cycle of death and rebirth called “Fate.” The anime follows several characters based on the protagonists of Arabian Nights, including Sinbad, Alladin, Alibaba, among others.

Aniplex will be releasing the series on home video, while Viz will be releasing the original Shinobu Ohtaka manga.
