Netflix Brings Just For Kids to the Xbox360

Netflix Brings Just For Kids to the Xbox360

Netflix has recently announced that they will be making their Just For Kids brand, which features programming content aimed towards kids 12 and younger, available to their subscribers via the Xbox 360 starting this week.

Existing members of Netflix on the Xbox 360 can go directly to the kid targeted and family friendly Just for Kids area, or feel content that their kids can access said subcategory and find a rich selection of kid-safe popular titles for both TV and Movies. As expected, all content will be commercial free.

Netflix’s Just For Kids, which originally launched in August of 2011, provides a character-based section as well as rows of TV shows and movies that are categorized as superheroes, princesses, dinosaurs, and girl power instead of the usual genre categories used in other media content.

Aside from the Xbox 360, Just For Kids is also available on PCs and Macs, Nintendo Wii, Ps3, Apple TV, and certain Smart TVs, Blu Ray Players, and Media Players. Tablets are not yet included, but will start supporting Just For Kids later this year.

This isn’t very unique though, and I wonder why people can get this service free with a PS3, but have to pay for it with Xbox. Blockbuster @ Home from Dish already has a Kids Only section in fact, and since I added BB @ Home to my lineup my kids have been absolutely delighted with the selections. Dish added another 5,000 titles to the genre a few months ago, and it breaks it down quite nicely into movies and shows by age group! My boss at Dish told me about his kids loving it, and I was quick to add it. We love that it’s so easy to filter and monitor what our kids watch, and the variety is phenomenal!
