Netflix Gets in on the Mecha Action with ID-0
Streaming service Netflix will be giving fans of anime, particularly those with a fondness for the mecha genre, a treat this spring as they have just published the english listing for Goro Taniguchi’s original mecha TV anime ID-0. Mr Taniguchi is known for Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, and he is in good company as animation is being done by Sanzigen.
The story of ID-0 is set in a fictional far future, where mankind has resorted to the use of robots known as “I-Machines” for menial labor, particularly dangerous ones in extreme environments such as deep space. The central character is named Maya Mikuri, who is a student at the Federation Academy that is caught in the middle of a pirate attack while piloting an I-Machine. Upon being rescued by an asteroid escavation company, she is coerced into working on their spaceship.
