Netflix is Producing an Adaptation of Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma
Netflix has recently announced that they are producing an anime adaptation of the videogame Dragon’s Dogma. The game is a 2012 action role playing game from veteran developer/publisher Capcom. While not as successful as Capcom’s more mainstream properties like Street Fighter, Megaman, and Resident Evil, Dragon’s Dogma was still commercially successful and has developed a cult following. In fact, a Switch port is forthcoming.
Netflix, for its part, is no slouch and knows how to adapt videogames, if their treatment of the Castlevania franchise is any indication. They are said to be working with CG company Sublimation for the anime. As for story details, the official blurb is very helpful:
“Based on a world-famous action RPG set in an open world, Dragon’s Dogma from Capcom will be brought to life as a Netflix original anime series. The story follows a man’s journey seeking revenge on a dragon who stole his heart. On his way, the man is brought back to life as an ‘Arisen’. An action adventure about a man challenged by demons who represent the seven deadly sins of humans.”
