It would seem that Netflix’s campaign to bolster their library with kid-friendly properties isn’t limited to modern franchises, as they have recently announced the addition of the newest iteration on the Care Bears franchise, titled Care Bears and Cousins. The modern update to the 80s property is expected to appear on their streaming service in early 2016, according to a report by Entertainment Weekly.
As the title suggest, Care Bears and Cousins will feature the Care Bears Cousins, which are members of the Care Bear family but aren’t really bears. The Cousins consist of other animals such as a lion, an elephant, and a bird, among others. Another notable difference was their use of the Cousin Call instead of the Care Bear Stare.
Netflix CCO Ted Sarandos has also confirmed that they have plans to revive other nostalgic brands, with The Magic School Bus and Popples being some of the already-confirmed projects.
