Netflix U.S. Features The Deep

DHX Media, Technicolor and A Stark Production have announced that The Deep will be streamed in Netflix in the U.S. starting June 1. The underlying rights holder to the series is Technicolor and it also manages the series brand management. The underwater animated adventure series is co-produced by DHS Media (voices, animation, voices) and A Stark in Australia (design, scripts and music). Distribution will be handled by DHX Media.

The Deep focuses on Nekton family, an exceptional team of underwater explorers. With an unquenchable thirst for discovery and state-of-the-art technology, the Nektons discover the mystifying depths of the ocean – a place where pirates prowl amidst floating black markets, leviathans swim through submerged cities and where a strange group of Guardians hide long lost secrets.

The Deep is inspired by a graphic novel series (Aurealis Awardee) created by Tom Taylor, published by Gestalt Comics and illustrated by James Brouwer. Brouwer serves as the art director and co-creator, with Taylor as lead writer and co-creator. Aside fron Netflix, The broadcast partners of The Deep include The Seven Network (Australia), CBBC (U.K.), Family CHRGD (Canada) and Super RTL (Germany).
