New Beyblade Burst Series Announced
Are you a fan of spinning tops? Have the recent string of Beyblade spinoffs got you down? Not to worry! Takara Tomy have announced their intention to reinvent Beyblade once again. Similar to the generational leap between the original Beyblade and Beyblade Metal Fusion, the upcoming Beyblade Burst will offer a whole new way to play the game.
Focusing on the tops exploding during battle, the Burst toyline reverts to the 3-layer system seen in earlier Beyblades. There’s an emphasis on network connectivity, as the BeyLogger toy (pictured above) can connect to an iOS/Android smartphone to track match results. From there you’ll be able to view local and global rankings. The BeyLogger will be able to view this info through the NFC chips embedded in each top.
Like prior Beyblade series, Beyblade Burst will come attached to a manga, anime and a host of related goods. The manga starts next month in CoroCoro Comic, with the anime early in production. The first of the new Beyblades will hit Japanese store shelves in July.
A western release for Beyblade Burst has already been confirmed, though no release window was shared. Rather than series regular Nelvana, B-Daman Crossfire‘s Sunrights will handle the anime in North America and Europe.
