Fathom Events and ELEVEN Arts are joining forces to bring Naoko Yamada’s critically acclaimed coming of age anime drama, A Silent Voice, to US theaters later this month. The anime film is known for its moving depiction of adolescence and all the struggles it brings. Viewers of the screening will get a chance to see a short feature and interview with the English dub voice of Shoko Nishimiya, Lexi Cowden.
A Silent Voice is inspired by Yoshitoki Oima’s manga of the same name. The story revolves around a deaf girl named Shoko Nishimiya. Upon transferring to a new school, Shoko experiences bullying from the popular student, Shoya Ishida. Due to his constant bullying of Shoko, Shoya eventually earns the ire of the entire class. Shoko then transfers schools and Shoya grows up as an outcast. They later cross each other’s paths and the regretful Shoya gets another chance to make amends.
Fathom Events’ screening of A Silent Voice will cover more than 500 US sinemas on Monday, January 28 (in Japanese, subtitled in English) and Thursday, January 31 at 7:00 p.m. local time (dubbed in English). For a complete list of theater locations, visit www.FathomEvents.com.
