Nickelodeon and CBS Greenlight New Star Trek Animated Series

Nickelodeon and CBS Television Studios recently announced the greenlighting of a new animated series based on the iconic Star Trek franchise. The animated Star Trek series will be helmed by Emmy-Award winners Kevin and Dan Hageman (Trollhunters, Ninjago) with Nickelodeon animation production and development EVP Ramsey Naito overseeing.

The upcoming animated Star Trek series will be exclusive to Nickelodeon, and will expand the Star Trek universe while introducing the franchise to a new generation of sci-fi fans. The series will rely on CG animation, and will focus on a group of lawless teens who discover a derelict Starfleet ship that they will eventually use to to search for adventure, purpose, and salvation.

The series will be from CBS’ Eye Animation Productions, CBS Television Studios’ new animation arm; Secret Hideout; and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin, Katie Krentz, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth will serve as executive producers alongside Kevin and Dan Hageman. Aaron Baiers will serve as a co-executive producer.
