Nintendo of Japan to Cease Production of Original 3DS XL Models
Nintendo of Japan has recently announced via their official website that the original 3DS XL, regardless of color and model, will soon be discontinued. The announcement is odd considering that a range of colors for the original 3DS will continue to be produced and sold.
The possible reason for the 3DS XL being discontinued is a push for the new Nintendo 3DS and 3DS LL, which has been released in Japan last October. The newer models a re required to use Amiibo figures in game, so it makes sense to push them over the older models.
Nintendo of America has not made any announcements yet, but it’s very likely that they will follow suit, so get your hands on an original 3DS XL until it becomes rare.
