Nintendo Makes New Set of Mario Hanafuda Cards

It’s sort of common knowledge among gamers that Nintendo wasn’t originally a videogame company, having predated the videogame medium itself. They got their start as manufacturers of Hanafuda cards, which means “flower cards” and is used to play a variety of games including its namesake.

What is little less known (most likely because it’s no longer relevant to videogames) is that Nintendo has not abandoned their original business and continues to produce hanafuda cards for both retail and promotional purposes. On the latter aspect, they regularly produce cards based on their established videogame IPs, with the most recent one being a set of Mario Hanafuda cards.

The set is considered premium and will feature popular Mario franchise characters such as Yoshi, Bowser, Princess Peach, and the plumbers themselves. You can check out how good they look through the screenshots below:
