Nominees for 90th Academy Awards announced
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has revealed the nominees for this year’s Oscars. Per expectations, the pool for Best Animated Feature is mainly mainstream family-friendly films, with two less commercial picks. The animated shorts category is more eclectic.

Coco (Pixar) – directed by Lee Unkrich
Ferdinand (Blue Sky) – directed by Carlos Saldanha
Loving Vincent (BreakThru Productions) – directed by Dorota Kobiela, Hugh Welchman
Nominees for Best Animated Short Film:
Dear Basketball (Believe Entertainment) – directed by Glen Keane
Garden Party (MoPA) – directed by Gabriel Grapperon, Florian Babikian, Victor Caire, Vincent Bayoux, Théophile Dufresne, Lucas Navarro
Lou (Pixar) – directed by Dave Mullins
Negative Space (Ikki Films) – directed by Ru Kuwahata, Max Porter
Revolting Rhymes (Magic Light Pictures) – directed by Jakob Schuh, Jan Lachauer
The 90th Academy Awards take place on March 4. The ceremony will be hosted by comedian Jimmy Kimmel. In the United States, it will air on ABC at 8 PM EST.
