NYC Ballet and Splash for Nutcracker Specials

Mike Young and Nicolas Atlan, co-CEOs of Splash Entertainment have announced a deal to secure global rights to The Nutcracker from The George Balanchine Trust and New York City Ballet has been finalized. Also, Splash Entertainment is on its way to stepping up its production to develop, produce and distribute Daisy and The Nutcracker. The 3 x 45’ set of education 3D animated and live-action specials is a project that is co-created by Mermaid Media and NYCB and written with Gabe Pulliam (Octonauts, Olivia).

Daisy and The Nutcracker features real dancers from the famous New York City Ballet and it is based on the enchanting world that NYCB co-founder and choreographer George Balanchine created in 1954. The entire production has been performing in the city since its premiere and it has been seen by over 100,000 people each year.

The specials occur in the center of New York City, where the Ballet performs the Christmas classic at Lincoln Center. It all starts when the act ends and the backstage of the theater (full of sets, costumes, the Christmas tree) looks dark and quiet. The high-spirited ragdoll named Daisy magically awakens one day in the middle of the production and though she has no idea about the ballet, Daisy plows hastily into each situation as she struggle to her dream of becoming a ballerina.
