As one of the first bankable mascots that came out of videogames, Pac-man has a long storied history, as he went from being an arcade mainstay who gobbled up an entire nation’s quarters to a popular franchise that has spawned sequels, spin-offs, toys, games, and more.
Famed cartoon studio Hanna-Barbera was the first to recognize the pellet-gobbling, ghost-munching character’s potential, and acted upon it by adapting the game for Satuday morning animation. This led to Pacman becoming the first video game to make the jump to broadcast TV and the rest, as they say, is Pac-History.
Hanna Barbera’s Pac-Man series follows the Pac Family, which consists of Pac-Man himself, Ms. Pac-Man, and Baby Pac-Man as they live their day to day lives while constantly butting heads with the bumbling gang of ghosts Inky, Blinky, Pinky, Clyde, and Sue, who along with their master Mezmaron, tries to do everything in their power just to get their hands on Pac-Land’s precious Power Spheres.
