Paramount Announces New Features at Cinemacon

At the recent Cinamon 2018 in Las Vegas, Paramount Animation announced two new additions to their feature slate. The first one is Monster on the Hill, which is being produced in partnership with ReelFX and Walden Media. The second one is Luck which is produced in partnership with Skydance Animation.

Monster on the Hill is set for a 2020 release and is an adaptation of the 2013 novel by Rob Harrell. The setting is a world in which “where monsters are tame and monster wrestling is a popular sport, teenage Winnie seeks to follow in her father’s footsteps as a manager by turning an inexperienced monster into a contender.” Bradley Raymond (Tinker Bell, The Lion King 1 ½) is directing from a screenplay by Matt Lieberman and Etan Cohen.

Aside from the two new feature films, Paramount also announced the title for the next SpongeBob Squarepants movie: It’s a Wonderful Sponge. This new SpongeBob feature is set for a Summer 2020 release, and will mark the franchise’s third foray into the big screens. Series writer Tim Hill will be directing. Hill is taking over the franchise reins from Paul Tibbitt, and will also serve as script writer.
