Paramount Preps Monster Trucks and SpongeBob Squarepants 2

If you think the Need for Speed, Gran Turismo, and next Fast and Furious installment are the only vehicle-oriented movies (does Turbo count?) that will be released in the coming years, think again. Paramount Animation is reportedly courting Oscar winner and Blue Sky co-founder Chris Wedge in order to get him to direct a new hybrid live-action/CG animated feature titled Monster Trucks. Paramount Animation has penciled the feature in for May 29, 2015.

According to Deadline.com, Paramount is already in the final stages of negotiations with Wedge, and has already approved a $100 million budget for Monster Trucks. The production is scheduled to start in the first half of 2014, with Mary Parent already on board as a producer.

Paramount Animation has also announced that they have already scheduled the big screen sequel Spongebob Squarepants 2 for February15, 2015.
