Entertainment One has recently announced plans for a retail launch of the globally popular preschool property Peppa Pig in India. The launch will be riding high on the momentum built by Peppa Pig’s overwhelmingly strong broadcast debut in June 2016 on VOOT Kids, which is the Video On Demand destination of Viacom18 for kids’ content in India, where it consistently ranked among the top ten most frequently watched on demand shows. The series also debuted on Nick Jr. India last January 9, 2017.
As part of the retail campaign, eOne has signed a deal with Viacom18 Consumer products, under which Viacom18 will reprsent the licensing rights for the brand across India and the Indian subcontinent. The rollout of the Peppa Pig merchandise to the Indian market will include plush toys, activity sets, and other Peppa Pig products that kids (and their parents) will definitely love. The products are already available on Amazon online and all 22 Hamleys toy stores, and will soon make their way to leading retailers across the region.
