It’s not that surprising at this point, as Pixar has already hinted in the past that they’re interested in revisiting Finding Nemo (which they initially did by re-releasing the film on 3D), but Pixar has all but officially confirmed a sequel by announcing the title and the details to the follow up.
Specific plot details are still marked as TBA, but the title was already confirmed as “Finding Dory,” and the gist being that Nemo, Marlin, and the gang going on the hunt for Nemo’s best (and memory deficient) friend.
Ellen DeGeneres, who voiced Dory in the first film, will be back to reprise her role:
“I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time,” said DeGeneres. “I’m not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating ‘Toy Story 16.’ But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It’s got a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and the best part is—it’s got a lot more Dory.”
Finding Dory will open in the US from November 25 2015 (UK release date TBC).
