According to the Wall Street Journal, Pixar will be paying special tribute to the Apple co-founder in the end credits of Disney/Pixar’s Brave. An early cut of film is said to feature a short scene in the end credits where a will o’ the wisp appears on screen and flits around Steve Jobs’ name.
The tribute owes its roots to the fact that Jobs was also co-founder and CEO of Pixar, in addition to his other position as co-founder and CEO of Apple Computer. Jobs was one of the people who lead Apple into creating iconic electronic devices such as the Macintosh line of computers, the iPod, iPhone, and iPad. Jobs passed away last year after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer, at the age of 56.
The will-o’-the-wisp is used since folklore describes the creatures as spirits that lead people to their destiny, probably symbolizing that Jobs has already fulfilled his.
Brave will open in theaters on June 22, 2012.
