Pixar Teases The Good Dinosaur for 2014
Pixar has recently revealed the working name for their upcoming dinosaur-related project, as well as a bunch of details that fans can chew on. The working name for the project is The Good Dinosaur, and will be directed by Up’s Bob Peterson.
According to Peterson, The Good Dinosaur will tell the story of a world in which the asteroid that caused the extinction of the dinosaurs never happened, and the creatures still walk the earth today.
“It’s time to do a movie where you get to know the dinosaur, what it’s really like to be a dinosaur and to be with a dinosaur,” said Peterson, speaking to the Los Angeles Times’ 24 Frames blog.
The movie will be co-directed by Peter Sohn and produced by John Walker. According to Sohn, Pixar is playing around with the other definition of a dinosaur as an anachronism. “The title is deceptively simple,” Sohn said. “It has more meaning than it seems.”
Peterson says that the entire crew visited the museum of natural history as well as various science museums in order to do some research and look at fossils and bones, in order to add a certain degree of realism to their dinosaur characters.
The movie has not yet entered the production stage, but the target date for release is May 30, 2014.
