Plants vs. Zombies Gets New Licensees
Fresh off the successful launch of Plants vs. Zombies 2, Popcap Games has just announces a bunch of new licensees for the property, which will launch the franchise outside of videogames and into proper merchandise.
First, Titan has signed up to launch a new magazine based on Plants vs. Zombies, followed by Magic Box, which has acquired the license for collectable sticker books. Character World, on the other hand, will be releasing a line of homewares that include bedding, curtains, and rugs.
The merchandising line for all three licensees are scheduled to come out this September, and will further bolster the Plants vs. Zombies product line, which already includes Character Options for plush and toys, Penguin for publishing, A4T for digital peripherals, Bioworld for apparel and accessories, Cooneen for nightwear and underwear and GB Eye for posters.
“These deals see Plants vs. Zombies expanding into three new sectors, which shows once again just what a strong brand it is with a reach that far transcends the digital sphere,” says Bulldog MD Rob Corney. “This is thanks to a huge fan base that is waiting to snap up anything related to this phenomenal property.”
