DHX Media’s animated kid’s series, Polly Pocket, recently secured a bunch of new international broadcast deals. The new broadcasters are 16 in total, and they include a lot of heavyweights, such as: Sony Pictures Television’s POP channel (U.K.); RTL Telekids (Netherlands); Kidzone TV (Baltics); Lagardère’s Gulli and TiJi (France), Gulli AFRICA (22 African-French speaking countries) and Gulli Girl (Russia); teleTOON+ (Poland); AMC Minimax (Eastern Europe); vtmkzoom (Belgium); Canal Panda (Portugal); Turner (Italy, Middle East, Turkey and Greece); Star Channel (Greece); kidZ (Israel); SABC (South Africa); and Discovery Kids (Latin America).
Based on Mattel’s line of popular toys, the new Polly Pocket animated series revolves around Polly and her friends as they take on all sorts of new challenges, while in a shrunken state induced by a magic locket. The series first debuted in Canada last July, on DHX’s own Family Channel and Family Jr. The global rollout will be later this year, all the way through 2019.
“Broadcasters around the world are snapping up the new Polly Pocket series because they know it’s based on a proven toy brand from Mattel that girls have loved for decades,” said Jerry Diaz, VP Distribution, DHX Media. “We’re confident Polly fans worldwide will be thrilled to see their favourite miniature toys come to life on screen with this new series, and enjoy some really big adventures with Polly and her best friends.”
