After the 1993 and 2000 OVAs and the little-seen anime movie from 2007, the cult hit manga Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure will be returning to Japanese TV this coming October in a new David Production (Level E, Ben-To) adaptation of the first generation of the manga franchise.
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure focuses on the adventures and misadventures of the Joestars, which is a powerful family with English roots, with each member of the bloodline having a star shaped birthmark above their left shoulder blade. The main story spans several generations as it follows the descendants of the Joestars as they fight with Dio Brando and his descendants.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures currently holds the honor of being Shueisha’s second longest running manga series, with 106 volumes and counting (the longest running manga is Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo, which has over 170 volumes). It also held the record for the longest manga not to have a TV anime adaptation in the past.
