In support of Rurouni Kenshin: Shin Kyoto-Hen’s June 23 screening, a new preview trailer for the second half of the anime has been released. The Shin Kyoto-Hen OVA is a remake of Rurouni Kenshin’s Kyoto story arc, directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi (of the original Rurouni Kenshin anime and Getbackers) and animated by Studio DEEN (Rurouni Kenshin, Fruits Basket).
The preview trailer shows a few key scenes in the story arc, particularly scenes showing off the enemies that Kenshin will face, the allies who will help him, as well as a brief scene showing his showdown with Shishio Makoto.
It is worth remembering that Rurouni Kenshin: Shin Kyoto-Hen is a remake of the Kyoto story arc and not a sequel nor a prequel. While there will be no drastic changes to the story, the entire OVA will be told from the viewpoint of Misao Makimachi, which should offer a fresh viewing experience for people who have already seen the anime.
