First Promo Video for Knights of Sidonia Released

Sidoniab

The first official promo video for the anime adaptation of Tsutomu Nihei’s Sci-Fi robot manga Knights of Sidonia has just been released, coinciding with the official launch of the series’ official site. The manga itself is still ongoing in Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon magazine, and has so far been collected in 10 tankobon volumes in Japan.

The story focuses on an alternate future where humans are struggling to survive against an invading force of shapeshifting giant alien monsters called Gauna. The manga begins with humans already fleeing the Earth in massive spaceships created from the remains of the planet, after the Gauna has destroyed Earth. When the Gauna pursues the humans into space, the humans had no choice but to manufacture large mechanized weapons called Guardians, which are piloted by specially selected humans who are shown capable of piloting the giant robots.
