Ratchet and Clank Film Adaptation in the Works
Rainmaker Entertainment and indie production outfit Blockade Entertainment have recently joined forces in order to produce a stereoscopic CG animated feature based on the hit videogame franchise Ratchet and Clank.The Ratchet and Clank games first appeared in 2002 via a partnership between Sony Computer Entertainment America and Insomniac Games.
The pre-production for the Ratchet and Clank movie has already begn at Rainmaker’s studio in Vancouver and is penciled in for an early 2015 release. The film will be directed by Jericca Cleland and produced by Blockade CEO Brad Foxhoven and VP of development David Wohl, with Rainmaker president Michael Hefferon as exec producer and Kim Dent Wilder and Kylie Ellis as supervising producer and producer.
Ratchet and Clank follows the adventures of two unlikely heroes as they try to put a stop to the destructive reign of an alien named Chairman Drek and save the Solana Galaxy along the way. Ratchet is a foolhardy “lombax” who has grown up alone on a backwater planet with no family of his own, while Clank is a pint-sized robot with more brains than brawn. The two heroes must work together and take advantage of each other’s strengths in order to compensate for their weaknesses.
