The Copyright Promotions Licensing Group (CPLG) has recently acquired a non-exclusive license for the upcoming Rabbids TV series, which is scheduled for a 2013 TV launch in the EMEA region. The Rabbids TV series is an upcoming show based on characters that originally appeared in the Rayman: Raving Rabids Wii game from Ubisoft. The Rabbids’ wacky antics and cartoonish behavior were so well received by gamers that they have started to overtake the franchise’s main character, Rayman, in popularity polls. With the Rabbids popularity comes appearances in merchandise and media that even the Rayman character didn’t appear in: kids merchandise and viral Youtube videos that were viewed by millions of fans.
CPLG’s status as non-exclusive licensing agent for the Rabbids TV series extends an existing agreement that allows CPLG to represent the Rabbids brand, as well as other Ubisoft properties such as the Just Dance and the Imagine series. The deal allows CPLG to represent said properties in all territories under them, which includes the United Kingdom. Currently, the company is looking for a master toy partner, with other categories soon to follow.
