Singer-actress Rihanna and The Big Bang Theory actor Jim Parsons were recently announced to have joined the voice cast of DreamWorks’ upcoming CG movie “Happy Smekday”, which was adapted from Adam Rex’s award-winning book “The True Meaning of Smekday”

Scheduled for a holiday of 2014 release, Happy Smekday focuses on Earth after an invasion by a friendly alien race, who want to use the planet as a hideout from their mortal enemy. When one solitary alien accidentally notifies the enemies of his whereabouts, he is forced to go on the run with a teenage girl across a post-apocalyptic America.

Parsons and Rihanna will be voicing the lead characters in the movie, which will be under the direction of Tim Johnson (Antz, Over the Hedge). Script writing duties are being handled by Tom J. Astle and Matt Ember, while production duties are under Chris Jenkins and Suzanne Buirgy. DreamWorks Animation’s head of development Gregg Taylor is overseeing the project.
